I started Music Box SA in a moment of uncertainty, after my career path unexpectedly shifted and I found hope again in the gentle melody of a little music box.
What began at artisan markets in Cape Town has grown into something beautiful, not through harsh ad campaigns or gimmicks, but through the deeply personal journey each customer takes with me.
Every music box is made to order. There's no warehouse, no
mass production, no shortcuts. When you order from Music Box SA, you become a co-creator. We work together to choose the perfect tune, craft the ideal message, and select the wood that speaks to you.
My customers fall in love with the process as much as the

I work with premium South African Kiaat and Whitewashed
Pine, woods chosen for their beauty, durability, and the warmth they bring
to every piece. Each box is finished by hand, engraved with precision, and
fitted with a musical mechanism that will play your chosen melody for years to
come.

    Whitewashed Pine or Kiaat.

    Kiaat, one of the prime timber species of the woodlands of southern Africa, is an excellent choice to combine with musical elements for the acoustic quality of its timber.

    Pine wood is medium-weight and relatively soft. We further soften the look by using a whitewashing technique that is pleasing on the the eye to fit into various interior decorating styles. Its strength and elasticity both add value to encaptulate the beautiful sound of music..

The Process

Choose Your Wood

Select from rich, honey-toned Kiaat (our most loved) or elegant Whitewashed Pine. Both are sustainably sourced South African
woods, chosen for their beauty and the way they age gracefully over time.

Choose Your Tune

You'll choose between a traditional 18-note wind-up mechanism or a custom digital mechanism that plays your exact song.

Choose Your Message

Add custom engraving. Names, dates, lyrics, or a message from the heart. This is where your music box becomes uniquely, unmistakably yours.

We Handcraft Your Box

Once your design is approved and payment confirmed, I begin crafting. Each box takes approximately 5 days to complete, then it's carefully packaged and sent via courier (2-5 working days).

Best is to allow 2 weeks from order to delivery.
